NOW is going back to the 1970s to proudly present the next instalment in our ongoing âYearbookâ series â with 49 tracks across 3LPs pressed in beautiful blue vinyl, celebrating a magnificently diverse year of Pop singles⊠NOW â Yearbook 1977.
Kicking off with a timeless anthem from Queen with âWe Are The Championsâ and followed by the huge instrumental rock of âFanfare For The Common Manâ by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. The song that would open âLive Aidâ years later is next up from Status Quo with their signature âRockinâ All Over The Worldâ, and followed with classic pop-rock from 10CC with âGood Morning Judgeâ and Yes with their huge hit âWonderous Storiesâ. Hot Chocolate enjoyed their first #1 with âSo You Win Againâ, and Donna Summer and Boney M. both make the first of two appearances on this collection with Top 3 pop smashes âLoveâs Unkindâ and âMa BakerââŠ.flip the LP over for a side celebrating easy-listening pop brilliance, and opening with a run of four #1s: Manhattan Transfer with âChanson DâAmourâ, David Soul with the UK and US #1 âDonât Give Up On Usâ, Leo Sayer with another trans-Atlantic chart topper âWhen I Need Youâ, and Deniece Williams with âFreeâ. LP2 opens with an amazing run of punk and new wave classics: The Stranglers with âNo More Heroesâ, The Clash with their debut âWhite Riotâ, Ramones with âSheena Is A Punk Rockerâ, and The Jam with their first Top 20 hit âAll Around The Worldâ⊠Elvis Costello with the peerless âWatching The Detectivesâ leads into defining tracks from Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers, Boz Scaggs, and Ram Jam plus a hit from the tv soundtrack to âRock FolliesââŠwhilst over on the other side European disco leads the hits with Baccaraâs chart-topping âYes Sir, I Can Boogieâ, alongside massive tracks from Belle Epoque and the debut âDaddy Coolâ for Boney M. âThe Crunchâ from The Rah Band was an instrumental smash, as was disco-flavoured re-working of the âStar Warsâ theme which gave Meco a US chart topper.
