In June 2000, after nearly seven years since their inception, esteemed underground rap collective Jurassic 5 finally released their debut full-length album. Despite high anticipation, ‘Quality Control’ delivered on par with Jurassic 5’s outstanding EP from three years prior.

The album clocks in at almost an hour, featuring DJ Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist’s skilful turntablism alongside the group’s signature harmonies and individual solos. Tracks like ‘Lausd’ pay homage to hip-hop classics while exploring themes of media and adulthood responsibility. Jurassic 5’s lyrical prowess shines on message-driven tracks like ‘W.O.E Is Me (World Of Entertainment)’ and ‘Contribution’, showcasing a level of eloquence and compassion previouslyunseen in rap.
